Yosemite Climbing Museum - Your
Support Needed!
Yosemite Mountaineering School guide Ken Yager
is in the process of establishing a climbing museum on Yosemite National Park
grounds. Ken has set up a
nonprofit corporation for the museum and he has collected all manner of
historical climbing artifacts for many years. Ken has the backing of several
climbing luminaries including Royal Robbins, Ron Kauk, and Lynn Hill.
20 April 2004 Update
from Ken Yager:
"Hello, I thought I would give you an update on the status of the Yosemite
Climbing Association and their efforts to build a Yosemite Climbing Museum. We
received a $28,000 matching funds grant from the Yosemite Fund for the year
2004. A building site has been approved and included in the Yosemite Lodge
Master Plan. It is located adjacent to Camp IV and is where the old Chevron gas
station used to be. Our next step is
raise the money to draw up a design and
plans and submit it for Park Service approval.
