Rock Climbing Safety Course

This is not a beginning rock climbing class. Previous climbing experience is required. The course will prepare you to pass the SCMA Safety Evaluation and evaluation climbs, and put you on the path to becoming an active member of the SCMA with the skills necessary to enjoy the sport more safely. You will be invited to join the club's many meetings and outings to network and share your passion with other climbers like you. If you are interested in developing climbing partners through SCMA member outings and taking your climbing to the next level, and then the
SCMA Rock Climbing Safety Course (RCSC) is for you.

You must be 18 or older to apply, and you will be required to sign a liability waiver. Climbing and mountaineering are demanding activities, both physically and mentally, and can be dangerous or even fatal if not approached with the right attitude. Please do not apply for this course if you are not physically fit or unable to attend all class sessions.

Students will need to supply the following equipment at their own expense: seat harness, rock climbing shoes, climbing helmet, several carabineers, belay/rappel device, slings/webbing, and rain gear (our training sessions are conducted rain or shine). Upon acceptance, you will be given a comprehensively detailed list of gear requirements (do not buy anything until instructed!). The SCMA will supply ropes and all other necessary gear.

Thanks for your interest in the SCMA and we look forward to seeing you out on the rocks! If you have any questions, click here to contact us.
