An Evening with Peter Croft

Peter CroftOn Wednesday, March 9, 2016, the Southern California Mountaineers Association (SCMA), in partnership with the Caltech Alpine Club, is thrilled to present an evening with Peter Croft at the Beckman Institute Auditorium at Caltech.

Peter Croft, one of the foremost climbers of our time, cemented his place in climbing history with an impressive body of first ascents, free solos, and noteworthy traverses and climbs.  Included in a long list of accomplishments are the first free solos of Astroman V 5.11 and the Rostrum V 5.11 in Yosemite, the first free ascent of Moonlight Buttress V 5.12d/13a, and the first ascent of the Evolution Traverse.  Croft has authored or co-authored books including “The Good, the Great, and the Awesome: The Top 40 High Sierra Rock Climbs.”  He is also the 1991 recipient of the American Alpine Club’s Robert & Miriam Underhill Award for outstanding mountaineering achievement.

Originally from Canada, Croft and his wife currently reside in Bishop, Calif.  When not traveling for adventure, Croft continues to work on new books, climbs, and establishes new routes in the Eastern Sierra.

The event starts at 7:30 p.m. with the main presentation after some brief club business.  The Beckman Institute Auditorium is located on the Caltech campus in Pasadena. There is convenient, free parking available on Wilson Avenue (just south of Del Mar Avenue) or in the parking structure off Wilson after 6 p.m.  Campus Map
