The Nose of El Capitan

Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at the SCMA General Meeting, SCMA member Jared Vagy will be giving a presentation about his ascent of The Nose of El Capitan.  Come enjoy stories and photos from this successful, 4 day ascent.  Jared will share his training plan, equipment used, and other knowledge and tips to success on a big wall.  Jared is also an ice climber, mountaineer, canyoneer, backcountry skier, and avid traveler.

Jared Vagy is a Physical Therapist with a Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy (DPT) from USC.  Additionally, he is a board certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).  An authority on climbing related injuries and prevention, Jared is a regular contributor to DPM Climbing magazine and has recently been teaching a popular clinic, Climbing Injury Free, at the West LA Rockreation location.

The meeting will be held at the auditorium of the Griffith Park Ranger Headquarters in Griffith Park, 4730 Crystal Springs Drive, Los Angeles.  The meeting begins at 7:30 PM with some brief general club business followed by the presentation.  There is no cost to attend and members as well as non-members are always welcome to come and see what the SCMA is all about.
